Texas already had presidents from when it was a republic before it joined the US. Stevenson would come after Gov. Patman took over, making him the 7th President of the Republic of Texas, not the first.

Chinese Provisional Government soldiers in action against the Japanese.

The Chinese Provisional government was in fact one of three governments at the time claiming to be the authentic government of China. This would create great difficulty in the war with the USA backing the Chinese National Government led by Wang Jingwei and the Germans backing the Chinese Provisional Government led by Dai Li. There was also the Radical Socialist Peoples Democratic Republic of China which was backed by none of the major powers.
