The first book of Settling Accounts. Just as Return Engagements was a phrase used by the Freedom Party, Blitzkrieg was used by the Nazis.

The Drive to the East. Much of the book covers the war on the Eastern front between Germany and the Soviet Union.

Curtiss-Wright Hellhound, the standard US onedecker fighter plane from the Second Great War. Basically a licensed version of the succesful Albatros-Halberstadt Bf 109 fighter of the German Empire.

(OOC : Actually a Messerschmitt captured and shipped back home for testing by US forces during WWII. BTW, notice I used "onedecker" instead of "monoplane", in line with TL-191's terminology.)

US soldier standard uniform, The Great War, late 1917

(OOC : Actually, a late WWI Austro-Hungarian uniform - which was sort of like a cross between German and British dress styles.)

It was green gray, with emphasis on the green.

The Sanderson Hound Dog, the standard fighter plane of the CSA during the Second Great War. Built at the aviation branch of the Sanderson Manufacturing company, as a licensed version of the British Hawker Spitfire.

(OOC : Can't remember the author again, but this showed up originally in one of the photo threads. Refering to the Spitfire as Hawker-made is meant as an in-joke. As well as Sanderson and the Curtiss-Wright in the previous one - a cookie for those who guess the reference.)

Well, it's not perfect, but I couldn't find a German-style WWI uniform which both looked German enough and wasn't completely German down to the details at the same time.

You know the Great War ended in mid-summer of 1917?

And every description of "green-gray" in the books emphasized how pale the green was, so pale it was virtually gray. Which is precisely what "feldgrau" or field gray is.

September 11th, 1975.

About two dozen men snuck explosives into the World Trade Center at New York City. The plan was as follows. The men would all enter the building at ten minute intervals from each other. Twelve entered the North Tower, twelve entered the South Tower. They would then make their way up to the floors that were being remodeled/refurbished/reconstructed. From there, they would all set out the explosives and prep them for detonation. Via drawing straws, two men (one for each tower), would stay behind to detonate the explosives. Then the other 22 men would get out of the building as soon as possible. The original plan called for the two explosions to occur simultaneously; however, the man left in the South Tower couldn’t go through with it, and fled the scene. One of the 22 who had left had to make his way up the tower, and detonate the explosives himself, a good twenty minutes later.

The goal of the terrorist attack was to cause the towers to collapse; the hope was that with the internal structure weakened, the floors above the explosion would buckle down on top of the lower floors and create a “pancake” effect. However, the explosions were not strong enough to cause a collapse.

After the explosions, both towers were evacuated. Those who were above the explosions were stranded. The fire feed on the inner walls, furniture and paper of the floors where it spread. Since there was no way to get water up that high, the FDNY decided to let the fires burn themselves out. Sure enough, within a few hours, the fire’s fuel was used up, and it died off.

Several hundred people died that day. Most died in the immediate explosions. Some in the above floors died from lack of oxygen as smoke filled the rooms (The only reason that people in the above floors survived was because they broke out the windows or fled to the roof). Finally, there were three cases of people being trampled on the stairs as people made a rushed panic down the building.

Only 15 of the 22 surviving terrorists were caught. The one who fled the scene and two others were never found, and four committed suicide before their capture. Every single one of the captured men pleaded the fifth amendment, and never spoke a word during the arrest, investigation or trial. They were all found guilty, and executed. Though their allegiances were never found, many believe that they were either members of, or a branch of, The Sons of Freedom.

Two memorials were built, where the bombs were detonated. The two memorials, and the Towers, are connected together by a diagonal bridge (with stairs and later escalators).

((OOC: The reason they did not collaspe ITL is because there was no Jet Fuel for the fire to feed off of and reach such extreme heat))
