Proposals for a flag of a Romanian SSR

I'm redesigning the flags of various Eurasian countries as though they were constituent SSRs of the USSR (or, in the case of the flags of former SSRs and communist states, redesigning their flags in order to be more original and interesting), and I just can't make up my mind for which flag I like best for a Romanian SSR.

These are the proposals I've got at the moment. Generally I prefer the ones in the top row and in the right column, but they all look pretty good.

So, Comrade-Historians, in order to find a solution to my indecision I was wondering which ones you like the most? I've made the poll multi-choice, so you can choose several flags if you're indecisive too, but feel free to only vote for one if there's one you really like. You should also feel free to suggest a modification to one of my proposals or an alternative design if you've got one in mind that you think would look good.

Number 3 stands out to my eyes.

I just have to say that numbers 4,5,6 and 9 all look like flags of a Don Cossacks Socialist Republic instead of Romania.

I like 1, 3, and 7. All the others hurt my eyes.

Most of the SSR flags had nothing to do with the traditional colours of those countries (perhaps deliberately) so honestly I don't think a Romanian SSR would look like any of those.

I know SSRs' flags are generally just variations on the USSR's flag, but that's unoriginal and it looks pretty terrible, which is why I'm redesigning the various SSRs' flags to be more original, as well as designing SSR flags for various Eurasian countries.

In short: I'm concerned entirely with aesthetics, not plausibility.

Oh, bugger. I don't suppose they'll mind too much, eh? They're on the other side of the Black Sea after all.

I voted 2 and 3. I suggest that the vertical stripes on these be shifted a bit further to the right. Or make them thinner. The red space on the left looks too restrictive, too claustrophobic.

On the diagram overall, there really needs to be more vertical spacing between the flags, and perhaps a darker gray. The rightmost column confused the living shit out of me.

That's a good point, and I had some trouble looking at the different flags in the right column too. I have now edited the diagram to have much larger vertical spaces in between flags and the background is a somewhat darker grey.

2, 3, 6 and 9 look a bit much like Indochinese flags to my untrained eyes. Probably has to do with the thin white stripes.

I have to second Thande. The traditional SSR flag design virtually ORDERS you to neglect traditional designs. The closest thing you can realistically get to what you is to take the design of the Tajik SSR flag as a role model change to colors appropriately, here meaning yellow instead of white and blue instead of green.

Otherwise, the Moldovan SSR flag may just fit as well. I mean most "Moldovans" are actually ethnic Romanians.

Again, I'm not concerned with plausibility; this poll is solely concerned with aesthetics.

I prefer variant 2. Variant 1 is only microscopically different.

Well it appears proposal 3 is the only one approved of by a majority of voters, and is therefore the clear winner here. I think I'll got with the first variant of proposal 3, as I don't like the wider red strip on the second variant.

Thanks for our help, everyone! I'll move on to some of the other SSRs or communist states now (maybe the RSFSR), and it's likely I'll be struck with indecision again, so expect to see another poll like this soon!

Damn, I chose 1 and 5. I thought everything else look awkward as hell.

Late to the party, but, #3 gets my vote as well.
