I support Ozymandias, for MOTF57.

But This is a very interesting idea.

The Miracle and The Locked Country sound interesting for future rounds.

Classopticon or A World Unto Themselves:

Show a territory, be it a Megacity, Region or Country in which the Classes literally live apart from each other.

Ex. The Upper-Class living in one area with anyone who does'nt make a certain amount forbidden from living their and the Middle-class imitating them and living segregated from the Lower-class.

In the Footsteps of Illustrious Men.
Show the world at least ten years after a famous, world-changing, person died. Future is OK, ASB no. The famous person has to be ATL, but they can be OTL if they went a different way.

Just to make sure people can see it.

I have an idea:

Down Without the Sickness

The World if an OTL plague was prevented/delayed (Black Death, Spanish Flu, Cholera)

Hmm. Could be interesting, especially if you also gave the option to show the effects of an ATL plague...

Sorry to be a pedant, but I would prefer it if you emboldened the names of challenge suggestions rather than italicising them.

Anyway, I won't be able to get my own entry for MotF 56 done in time, but it looks like we got plenty of great entries anyway. I'll post the voting thread later today, along with the entry thread for MotF 57 which - you may have already guessed - will be "My Name is Ozymandias".

Indeed.

Down with the Sickness

The World if an OTL plague was prevented/delayed (Black Death, Spanish Flu, Cholera), or a ATL plague occurred (Captain Trips, Airbourne AIDS).

Well, I've had a spark of inspiration for MotF 57. Here's hoping I have the patience to execute it to my satisfaction, or even at all.

Well, you've got the full two weeks to do it, so it shouldn't be too hard to find the time to finish it. I'm not sure you've entered the contest for a long while, so I look forward to seeing your contribution!

I entered 39 and 41, so it's been quite a while. In my opinion I've improved a far bit since then, but I suppose my lack of patience and self confidence gets to me.

Loving the MOTF57 challenge. But I lack both the skill and programs to recreate a map. Yet I have a very good idea for one. If anyone is planning on making an entry but can't decide on the idea. I think I have a great one. Just PM if anyone is interested and wants to know about it. It regards ancient North American culture.

I got curious and went back through the archives to count some numbers. Did you know that an average of 9.7 maps are submitted for each round of the Map of the Fortnight challenge? The lowest was 3 and the highest was 20. (Interesting hypothetical question: what would happen if there were more than 20 eligible entries in a round? Host the poll elsewhere? Or split it into multiple polls?)

And here's a quick graph showing the number of entries per challenge and the number of votes per challenge:

How about

Mosaic Earth

Make a map about a world made out of areas from different periods of history, like a Mosaic Earth TL.

I would suggest "Mosaic Earth plus 20", showing what things look like after some time for a "new order" to be established: otherwise the creativity is limited to "how many different chunks can I come up with a mini-TL for?"

Some ideas that came to me;

The Anywhere Spring (Needs a better name)
Make two maps, one showing a localized armed uprising against a government and the other showing the localized remnants of that government after the rebels have overthrown it. (Too specific?)

Air, Fire, Earth, Water
Make a map showing the effects of an alternate history natural disaster.

I don't think anything too close to these has been used as an actual MotF round, but I'm unsure if similar challenges have been proposed.

Interesting, though the scale doesn't do the graph much justice. A few tips, if I had the data I would remove the line on the graph, the data points are not technically related. I would also put a different scale on the RHS for the number of entries, then there are a couple of significant tests or ways of graphing it to see if there was a connection...
