I'd like it if the next MoF would allow future maps, so I can use an entry based on my conworld -- which is set at least ten thousand years in the future.

I don't see why future maps wouldn't be allowed, provided there's nothing blatantly ASB about them.

I am withdrawing my entry in response to B_Munro's disqualification. I just find it dickish.

This is honestly the first time I've had to enforce that rule on someone who's already submitted an entry, and I find it more than a little unfair too, especially considering the fact that B_Munro has told me it was an honest mistake.

I've told him I'll allow his entry if he deletes the offending post, and I'm going to revise that rule before the beginning of the next round (i.e. before tomorrow).

Okay, B_Munro's deleted his accidental comment, and I think it's pretty clear to everyone now that that rule is rather ridiculous, so B_Munro's entry has not been disqualified and he will still enter the contest for MotF 29.

That's good, I want time to advance my TL as I'm about to have a perfect situation for it! (That's allowed right?)

No matter how many times I do this, I always seem to get that wrong.

Thanks for pointing it out; the date has now been changed to Saturday the 5th of February.

For MotF 30, does it have to be the whole world, or can it just be a region?

You're welcome. I very much enjoy all the MotF threads and am glad I could help in some small way.

What are you talking about? The due date is the 5th of February. The due date has always been the 5th of February.

(ooc: seems fitting the opening post for a 1984 map challenge would have important information edited.)

Sorry, what's allowed?

Don't worry, it can just be a region. I'll (probably) never place a restriction like "The map must depict the whole world" on you in MotF contest rounds.

What are the suggestions for the MotF following the current one that are actually being taken seriously?

Anyway - here is a suggestion of mine.

Shine On - You Crazy Diamond - Show a nation in it's dying years. This can be two or three maps showing the breakdown of a nation to just one map showing the nation at it's lowest point. (Though a backstory must be given for this.) Maps could be set from any point in history to the present. (Or near future, depending on your opinion.)

I was going to put a map from my TL, however with this time limit there's no chance.

Just a suggestion...

History put in Reverse :: Show a map of the world or at least a part of it in a TL where one significant historical situation or series of events has been put in reverse. I.E, Abolitionist North seceding from Slavocratic Union, Hispanic North America and Anglo South America, France becoming a Nazi Germany analogue ETC

I like this idea.
