Long story short, nations stereotyped as being "American states" decide to fulfill that ambition. Social, economic, and political upheaval ensue.

![]() ![]() .No really. It would take a POD before 1800 to get an American NZ. The only interest they had was whaling stations, hence the TL is in the ASB forum ![]()

Actually, wasn't there a movement in Sicily to join the US after WWII? (Yes, I know it didn't have a chance in hell. But this is an ASB map after all).

January- June 1918
-The People's Republic of Arabia is established in the Arabian peninsula. -The Renault-30 takes the field on the western front as does a new French aircraft, the Cauldron R. 18. Fighting in the trenches of Germany takes on a new ferocity as the Allies throw increasingly advanced weapons and tactics into the fray along with large numbers of men. -In Italy Zhukov's men press west towards the city of Milan and south towards Rome. Allied forces are drawn out of Germany in an effort to halt the Soviet advance, if Italy is forced to drop out of the war then the frontline will move to France. -Field-Marshal Jan Smuts of the British Army struggles desperately to stop the Russians in Egypt with the token British and Italian forces remaining in North Africa. With only a few tanks and limited air cover they can't accomplish much. The Russians themselves aren't in the best shape, keeping supplied in the desert is difficult, and men and materials are needed more on the other fronts. But Stalin insists that the workers and slaves of Africa will rise up once they know the Soviets are on the way to liberate them. -In Ethiopia Christian nobles attempt to topple Iyasu V, the emperor designate (they've been trying this for a while) on the grounds of his official conversion to Islam. The Muslim refugees from the Middle East (many of which have settled in Ethiopia following the move of the Black Stone) rise up and with the help of the British reinstate Iyasu and wipe out a number of the nobles. -The Kingdoms of Nepal and Bhutan surrender as the vanguard of the Russian invaders begins to spill over their borders. Using the mountain kingdoms the USSR is able to secure its control of Northern India. Cut off from resupply out of Europe and faced with a dissolving chain of command, the British Raj is on the ropes. -Allied forces in China are finished except for Hanian and a small bit of the Japanese sphere of influence held largely by Americans. With little organized opposition the Soviets press into Burma and French Indochina. Losses due to Malaria and disease are higher than enemy casualties, even with the French Colonial troops and AEF fighting the advance every step of the way. -The grueling invasion of Japan continues.
