Here is what I do...
1. Take a map with OTL borders and copy a section that you want.
2. Paste it into a new paint doc and get rid of all of the nation colors and water.
3. Open up the document that you want the OTL borders to be in.
4. Check off the transparency box OR if you have an older version of paint get rid of paste opacity.
5. Paste the OTL border into the new doc and line them up with the map.
6. Do whatever you want. Maybe use some UCS or non-UCS colors, show land claims, puppet states or allies, areas of conflict, ect.

There you go!

I'm not done with it yet, but I can post a map of the 2nd American Republic and it's allies tommorow (today). I need to sleep now... SHE says that I spend too much time on this site and if she falls asleep before I do again, well then I'm not going to hear the end of it.

Just a wee map I made about a Scottish Civil War.
POD is the act of union never happens, Ireland gains independence and splits into two nations.
People's Republic of Clyde = Communist Revolutinaries
Kingdom of Lothian = Loyalist forces of the Scottish King
Divine Kirk of the Highland = Oppressive theocracy



I know it doesn't make sense but I was bored and I found a map of Scotland.

As I remember I got kicked for that, and I believe it was my second kicking for abrasively and brazenly insulting someone's mapcrafting skills. I try and be more careful - and considerate - these days. Thankfully it's gotten to the point where people have stopped trying to summon me as some sort of map-criticising god whenever they see a map that's not exactly up to scratch.

Be assured that if I do criticise your map, it's just the map I mislike; not yourself.

Even though you did get kicked for that rant, it's the most glorious criticism of a map I've ever seen.

How come Banff and Buchan are part of the theocracy, we are much closer culturally to Angus & Fife than the Highlands.

It was certainly extensive - perhaps even exhaustive - but it's not exactly a good idea to be so blatantly insulting and derogatory as I was.

Really? That's strange, because I believe the meme/running joke/cliche has been around since before I join the forum. This leaves us with two possible explanations:

1. Either Thande or I experienced a momentarily failure of memory causing us to become confused as to the nature of the meme.

2. Thande and I are the same person and (we/I) (are/am) conducting a monstrous and highly organised campaign to confuse people about the origins of AH.com running jokes.

Personally, I'm not denying either possibility.

Perhaps you should give them Aberdeen then as well... then you would have a real reason for them to invade the North East... and actually make them a bigger threat to the other sides of the War.

And surely a proper Kirk theocracy would be based on Galloway? They could be supported by their kin of Antrim and Down. I see you've got them occupied by England, but (as history shows) the real fun comes when England and Scotland both have confusing civil wars at the same time.

The Highlands would have some sort of whacky South American mixture of hang-the-landlords agrarian socialism and Wee Free piety. They might be allied with the Godly Community against the dread tentacles of Red Glaswegian power advancing up and down the puffer-routes, but they're hardly of the same flesh.
