No Military Draft in Anglophone Nations

English speaking nations do not have a long history of involuntarily forcing their young men into military service. It was not until 1864 that any such political unit enacted draft laws. On the rare occasions Anglophone nations did fire up a draft, it was always met with stiff oppostion.

What if there was never a military draft in the English speaking world?

Then hyper-nationalisim and good old-fashioned chauvinisim would be alive and well. If you look at britian in world war one, they used huge amounts of homophobia, peer pressure to question the masculinity of anybody that didn't volunteer. In world war 2, say (aside from not having a draft be a very bad idea manpower-wise), the gap between volunteers and non-volunteers would be huge. I think military-civilian relations would be horrible.

Would Anglophone nations have a greater tendency to lose wars as well?
