Gorbachev dies early
Suppose like his predecessors, Gorbachev dies a year or two after taking office. Who would have followed hom? How would the USSR have fared?

You have alot of threads that you have started, lets hear your ideas of how things would have happened. The POD is the easy part, I doubt anyone is lack for a pod, but lets hear how you BELIEVE things would have happened and what not.

Xen, I have a fairly good idea of the important things which have happened, but little idea of what was along side these events that would interact with a change. But I will try to come up with a few for you and others who feel your way.
