Is the first one any good? Too many AH books about British involvement in the ACW seem to turn very quickly into America wanks (I'm sure we all know which author I'm talking about
). |

Why would blood be a rainbow?

Yeah, I'll get it. Just so I can be informed when you tell us how it's wrong.

I liked Britannia's Fist fairly well, so I'll look into this one. From the synopsis on Amazon it doesn't sound like a Unionwank, not so far anyway.

The Brits have burned Albany to the ground, and Copperheads managed to free and arm like 6,000 Rebel POW's in Illinois and they seize Chicago. A French corp of 20,000 men have crossed into Texas and are marching towards occupied New Orleans. As historical, the Army of the Cumberland is besieged in Chattanooga. The blockade is basically dead. The Good The Russians get dragged into the war. Joshua Chamberlain managed to defeat a British attempt to seize Portland. Adimiral Dahlgren won a large, but strategically meaningless naval victory in front of Charleston harbor. An Indiana POW uprising was crushed. All the antiwar Irish have changed their tune, as have many wavering Democrats. A threat to the main US iron foundry on the Hudson was quashed. The US shifts to total war mobilization. All in all a decided advantage to the Brits. It has been foreshadowed that most of the rest of Europe will get involved. I'm anticipating something like the Union, Russia, Prussia, Italy, Mexico and perhaps Bulgaria and Greece against the CSA, Britain, France, Austria, and the Ottomans.

That's why I wanted to read this trilogy--I want to see a good World War scenario in the 1860's!
