Television spin-off

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Emmerich confirmed that a television series based upon the film is in the works. The series will serve as a sequel to the film and is planned to focus on a group of survivors in 2013.[33]

Let me get out my new age idiot to normal person translator.

2012: Dumb white people fear yet another new year where nothing will happen, based on fake information from people who don't understand the Mayan calender, and will buy provisions and piss themselves under the covers in late December because of it.

2012 Doomsday as a concept is idiotic and annoying, the movie will be little more than special effects wanking for two hours and will suck (and still go on to make elevendy kabillion dollars), and I won't give it discussion. I don't know how the hell they're gonna pull off a tv series either. You only have maybe 2 seasons at best before none of this doomsday stuff comes true and people go onto the next doomsday which they equally pee their pants at, buy provisions, and hide under the covers.

2012 is a fun, great special effects movie but it does address some serious issues. Maybe not in an Oscar contending way, but it certainly isnt alone in that regard.

One thing that it does pretty well may not even be intentional. Despite all of its inplausablities it really demostrates the stunning implausibility of that age old biblical disaster tale of Noahs Ark . One vessel made out of "gopher wood" contains all of the animal species on Earth-including dinosaurs!- and survives conditions worse than those shown in 2012. Yet that story is believed as gospel by millions. So if 2012 is ridiculous it has some very "august" company.

I don't even understand how the hell Africa survived through all of that shit......

Second of all, how could humanity survive, if its the End of the World? If its the end of the world, then its the end of the fucking world!!!
If Humanity could survive through all of that shit in the movie, thats not the end of the world, thats just us surviving through a series of disasters
End of the world is like Planet X smashing into Earth destroying everything
Or a the Earth getting sucked into a black hole.

Thats probably why I don't believe in that 2012......

I have not seen it yet, and probably won't until its out on TV. However... I do have to say that is really pathetic when the trailer of 2012 says 'The Mayans were right! They knew this would happen!' and then a day later I see a story where a Mayan guy is saying the entire thing is a western created lie and that in no way does their calender say the world will end.
That just seems.... somewhat failish to me.

We need to time travel to the Mayan Empire and tell them to fix that calendar.

Honestly. The Mayan's were predicting events in the 15th B'atun. 2012 is only the end of the 13th.

For Some Reason, this Post Leads me to Want to Quote from The Film Billy Madison ...

I can't IMAGINE Why:

I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

Because, as any AH'er should know, Africa will have roughly OTL colonial or post-coloial borders in any timeline past 1880. I'm just glad they actually did something with India and South America.

Meh, the movie suppose to be just entertaining (and the CGI kinda was). I would guess that less than .1 percent of the population (exluding little kids of course) actually believes in the whole 2012 thing anyway.

I really hope on 2012
God appears and says "FUCK YOU RETARDS! THERE IS NO APOCALYPSE!" and just vanishes, as the world slowly gets ripped apart from the Fabric of the WTFness

Unfortunately, 20 percent of the USS Bainbridge believes it.
