World Leaders Survivor: Observation Thread
This thread will be where I post the results of each round of World Leaders Survivor.
After ten rounds, the surviving 100 leaders will be randomly shuffled into five groups of twenty. After sixteen more rounds, the remaining twenty will go into the finals. I'm not sure if I'll incorporate any "challenges" or rule changes into the game, but if I do they'll be posted here as well. Any bets on the winner?

I'm thinking that the prominent ones will be ousted relatively early. Their supporters will suffer from vote splitting ("I like Putin--should I vote against Portugal, or Qatar?"), while their opponents, rather obviously, will not.

Putin will win cause Russia has nukes and the Russian Intelligence Service knows where you live.

BTW, I will not vote in the polls myself, but will break ties if they exist at the end of the round.

Round 1 is completed.
Eliminated: Kevin Rudd (Australia) ![]() Than Shwe (Burma)* Raul Castro (Cuba) ![]() Ali Khamenei (Iran) ![]() Hans Adam II (Liechtenstein) ![]() Mohammed VI (Morocco) ![]() Kim Jong-il (North Korea) ![]() King Abdullah (Saudi Arabia) ![]() Omar al-Bashir (Sudan) ![]() Benedict XVI (Vatican City) *I broke a tie in Group 2 between Than Shwe and Hu Jintao -- Jintao's a right bastard but he hasn't been as bad for his people as Shwe.

And the map is below.
I was not expecting Rudd to go down this early. Otherwise, no huge shockers, though I'm pretty sure the surprise thundershower on my way home from work is the result of you voting off the Pope. ![]()

Just a reminder, using the poll threads to ask others to vote out a specific individual, either for its own sake or to save someone else, is allowed and encouraged.
Also, you might want to check the poll results before voting yourself -- otherwise I might be breaking a lot of ties this round...

Okay, we have a problem here....seven of the ten groups are tied.
Would it be better to reboot the round where everybody posts their vote instead of having a poll? That way people can follow the vote and coalesce around two or three targets a round, instead of voting for seven separate people...

Okay, we only have three ties now
, so I'll close Round 2:Eliminated are: ![]() Alexander Lukashenko (Belarus)* ![]() Stephen Harper (Canada) ![]() Hosni Mubarak (Egypt) ![]() Mikheil Saakashvili (Georgia) ![]() Nursultan Nazarbayev (Kazakhstan) ![]() Felipe Calderon (Mexico)* ![]() Mahmoud Abbas (Palestinian National Authority) ![]() Ralph Gonsalves (St. Vincent and the Grenadines)* ![]() Dahir Riyale Kahin (Somaliland) ![]() Robert Mugabe (Zimbabwe) *The three ties were broken as follows -- Lukashenko is a somewhat worse dictator than Sali Berisha, and Mohammad Nasheed is actually pretty cool for the leader of a minor nation (Amnesty International prisoner of conscience and basically the first legitimately elected leader of the Maldives in a long time) -- so Calderon got the boot. Group eight had a six-way tie (one vote each), and while I was tempted to tie-break against Putin, I decided if you want to get rid of someone that major, you'll have to do it yourselves. So I took out the controversial Gonsalves instead. Ties were a big problem this round, so going forward I'm requesting that people post to explain their votes and encourage others to vote the same way -- I'm hoping this will encourage more tactical voting instead of having votes scattered across the board.

Yup, and your "slate" is about to make a near-sweep as a result....others should learn from your example.
All groups but two and ten are closed, I'll allow another 30 minutes or so if people want to cast last-minute tiebreakers before I do.

Do we vote who to keep or who to get rid of. Because if the latter, I slipped up.

Who to get rid of. If you messed up you may change your vote by posting to the threads in question.

Hmm, interest in this seems to have faded -- and absolutely nobody is talking, even after I tried nudging them...so I think I'm pulling the plug on this one.
