The Muslim League and Indian National Congress form a united Front

So, a change of pace.

In the aftermath of the 1937 Indian elections, Jinnah proposed a united front between the INC and the Muslim League. Nehru, of course, had none of this; the 1937 elections implied that the Muslim League, which got very few seats, wasn't that powerful.

What Nehru neglected to realize was that regional Muslim parties did gain many seats, and that they basically merged with the Muslim League over the next few years as sectarian tensions flared up. Moreover, there was a real concern that by recognizing the Muslim League, it would be implying that the INC was basically a Hindus only club.

But, Nehru could be far-sighted, and nobody ever called him stupid. Suppose he recognized the dangers of alienating the continent's Muslims, and pushes the Congress into a united front.
