Map Challenge
How can this map happen with a POD between 1850 and 1950? Apologies, since the map is horrid but I used Microsoft Paint.

If you were not who you are, I would ask Ian to ban you for that map. But I will not.

Are those supposed to be specific countries or alliance structures?

The red and blue wouldn't be that hard. Just make the Soviets more successful than the Americans/British in WW2, make the Americans more successful in Southeast Asia, add a Soviet invasion of the Middle East, and then make Mao's revolution take hold in only the Eastern part of China.
I'm not sure how to make the green. Maybe there's a massively ASB rebellion of all small islands against their mainland overlords. Also, why is the Caspian Sea orange? Did it dry up and then turn into its own non-aligned country? BTW, that first map was the goofiest looking thing I've ever seen in my life, and I mean that in the best possible way.

Yes ; and the Caspian Republic anthem is "Sailing the Seas of Cheese" by Primus.

All the red under Soviet direct control or satellites of Soviets is fine. All the Blue democratic and in a type of confederation. Green are neutral areas designated for trade between blue and red since there is no direct trade between blue and red. Reds do not want to be contaminated by direct trade with blue.

If the green is deliberate, I'm personally finding it a little hard to justify as independent of red and blue. I mean, I can see the Caribbean plowing some kind of middle path given certain PODs, but Vancouver Island? The Mediterranean island when surrounded literally in every direction by red? Svalbard and Novaya Zemlya?
It just seems a little too haphazard to me. |

Possibly. I got confused when people started actually describing the nature of the green islands' independence, though...

The green areas were tiny bits I failed to color in.
