In what circumstances are they given ? Are they awarded in addition to their federal counterparts or is it completely separate ?

Um, so, apparently the Colt manufacturers had a time machine. Note the service history vs. production history. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Colt_revolving_rifle

I always wondered who the hell thought that could be a good idea.

I'm not sure this belongs here, but does anyone else think that' the face Hillary makes whenever she knows Bill is alone with a female staffer?

Wishing you well, his majesty,

The 1K17 Szhatie was a Soviet-built laser tank. Yes, you read that right, a swiveling laser projector mounted atop a T-80 tank chassis.

I think these guys deserve some mention here.
Basically, a community in rural Italy that converts collectively to Judaism under Fascism and gets recognized as such just before Anti-Semitic legislation passed.
This last detail isn't on Wikipedia, I took it from a book in Italian about converts to Judaism in modern times.

Or to any important sites in Canada and other Commonwealth realms.

It has occurred to me that the Royal Guards are probably the best bodyguard in the world, just because everyone abroad seems to think they're purely ceremonial and don't realise they're all combat veterans who have usually just finished a term of duty in Afghanistan or something like that. So some foreign johnny tries to take a potshot at Her Majesty thinking the chaps in red are just there for the tourists, only to find himself ripped to bloody shreds by a hail of hideously accurate gunfire before he can get his hand out of his pocket.

I think it might be the specific gun itself. It's weird looking, not the normal one (M5? M6? M something. . .).

It's an SA-80 series, probably an L85A2, but I'd have to look at the back of the receiver or the barrel to be sure. Could be an A1.

And both of those only a few hours by car from my chair. I really have to go to that museum again. They even have an old 747.
