If it wasn't such a well-known part of twentieth-century history, the Manhattan Project would sound not only like AH, but extremely ASB.

Within four years, using the most advanced physics known, and a group of scientists of whom many had deserted from your enemy during the previous decade, a new weapon is developed and used, to destroy entire cities instantly.

Think about it.

Several things about the history of the Mongol Empire, including the death of Ogadei as the Mongols were preparing to invade Central Europe, and the "divine wind" that wrecked the attempted invasion of Japan, seem rather chance-like in my opinion.

There are a lot of little details I discover when studying history that go against my previous expectations so much I almost want to say they're the result of time travellers changing the historical record.

And, in a related note, this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Cornwall
It should be considered ASB, on account of everybody knowing that those brave Elizabethan seamen could, and would, sink entire Spanish fleets just by raw eyeballing to them.

That reminds me...I read about an Australian Aborigine, Burnum Burnum, who planted a flag on the Cliffs of Dover in England in 1988 to "claim" England for the Aborigines. I can't find the picture, though.

He sounded like a pretty nice guy, actually:
