ooc: It's been a while since we've seen our WWU analogue for Limbaugh, so I thought we should bring ol' Nash for a visit.
ic: therockfordfile.com Great! More god damn liberals! The conservative movement scored a big one on November 2nd, unseating the unthinking liberal Matt Santos and replacing him with Glen Allan Walken, a real man. Walken may not be the most conservative, but he is conservative, and is a good representative of our movement. But with the whole fever of electing him, we seem to have forgotten about the rest of the country! Liberals! Liberals! Liberals! They're everywhere! In Washington, Andrew "Pretty Boy" Howard, who has been characterized as having no fear of butting heads with Republicans, was elected with almost 58% of the vote! How can we be letting this happen? Over Doug Bow, a great man, and a real conservative, like myself. Or in Colorado!!! Jack Moseley lost to a french woman! A french!!! What the hell is she doing in this country? Somehow Coloradoans elected the RINO Oliver Moseley, but not his real Republican father? Now in California, although I admit I'm not surprised, Nicole Kershaw, who's husband, when he was on TheRealThing with Nate Bradshaw last week called me a raging lunatic. ME! This is insane!!! We must stand up for ourselves. We must stand up for our movement! We have been given this chance, with Glen Walken, to take America back from the clutches of the evil liberal! And we must do it right. We cannot afford to let the ilk of Jackson Kennedy reach public office higher than that outside his liberal sanctuary of Pittsburgh, we cannot let Jimmy Fitzsimmons keep his senate seat, we cannot let the democratic party keep control of the house of representatives! Send Carol Gelsey back to Florida where she belongs! This is our moment! And we're not going to let it slip away!!!

Part I of III (just the current and incoming Legislative Branch, 153 castings in total):
![]() I have the grids for the other two laid out and saved already, I just need to do the arduous job of clipping images of actors for 'em. Hopefully I haven't forgotten anyone or made any mistakes. I've only added *1* new casting, which incidentally is in the above image. Does anyone know which of the 50 above was never cast before? |

Gelsey Meeting With Former President Bartlet. Speaker of the House Carol Gelsey will be flying to Manchester New Hampshire to meet with former President Jed Bartlet today. She will spend Tuesday in New Hampshire, before flying home to Florida on Wednesday. The former President has been asking for a meeting since August, but due to previous commitments and the challenges of the election, the Speaker has been unable to match their schedules. This will be the first substantial sit-down between the two since Gelsey was elected Speaker.

![]() Sindh will Endorse Fitzsimmons Later Today. Sources within the office of Congressman Ray Sindh have learned that the Democratic plans to endorse Senator Jimmy Fitzsimmons for reelection today. Sindh was on the list of candidates that Governor Isaac Sidley considered for the position of Senator, but in the end Fitzsimmons was chosen. Sindh appeared to take no ill will toward either the Governor or the then-Mayor, and was in fact one of the first to offer his congratulations. Sindh's endorsement is important for more than one reason. The Congressman has been involved in the Youth in Revolt movement, and in fact spoke at their first rally in Boston. He's got deep connections within the college ranks, and has made youth issues a signature of his time in office. This will create some problems with Alex Minnoli, the Treasurer of the YiR, who is also running for the seat. Sindh will endorse Fitzsimmons in his home city of Peabody, around 1 pm.

Gatsby to campaign for Fitzsimmons Congressman James Gatsby (D-NY-5) has come out today in favor of Senator Jimmy Fitzsimmons for his campaign in the Massachusetts special election. The two go way back, and this endorsement comes at a crucial time for Fitzsimmons. Gatsby is popular with the new deal democrats, a dying breed, but still alive and well in the northeast. A Gatsby spokesperson has said that the congressman will be making an appearance with the senator sometime this weekend after thanksgiving.

Thorn Meets With Russell; Will Fly to Massachusetts Next Week. Senator Andrew Thorn has been busy of late. The New Yorker met with Senator Lloyd Russell in his office this morning. Russell is campaigning to become the Minority Leader following the retirement of Tom Grissom, and Thorn's support is viewed as key in gaining that position. Thorn has good relationships with both Russell and Senator George Montgomery, who is also seeking that position. So far, Thorn has remained neutral, and has not decided on a candidate. Adding yet another chapter to a continuing saga, Thorn will be traveling to Massachusetts after Thanksgiving. It is unclear why, but it has been speculated that Thorn will attempt to act as a mediator in the conflict between Senator Jimmy Fitzsimmons and Youth in Revolt treasurer Alex Minnoli.

Kershaw putting together an A-list staff Newly appointed Senator from California, Nicole Kershaw, has taken her new job quite seriously. Possibly, more serious than some expected her to. Former White House Communications Director Lou Thornton as her new Chief of Staff, the two have a good relationship as Thornton was a non-contracted political consultant for Kershaw's mayoral run. Thornton has said that she's excited to be working with her: "Nicole is great. I've kinda watched her from afar rise and grow up, and its nice to see someone like her make it so far. I got a call this morning from her, she was in D.C. to meet with senate leaders and asked for a meeting. Next thing I knew, I was her Chief of Staff! I look forward to working with her." Following that, it was announced that Landon Greenwood, little brother of Congresswoman Claudia Greenwood (D-CA-6) would become her Communications Director. Other leading staff members were also filled today, many of whom served on campaigns across the country this year. Josh Lyman was on tonight's episode of TheRealThing with Nate Bradshaw, and said, "It seems to me that she's putting together an A-list staff." No question there, and it shows that she means to get right down to business as soon as she takes office in January.

Yep, Frost. I was going to introduce her in another round of sidebars, but I never got around to it.
Part II (of III): ![]() McIntosh is listed here with an asterisk (as is Oakley) to denote the unknown nature of that election and be fair to both sides. Harrison Straus (Hayden Ford) will be asterisked as well on Part III (and, theoretically, Brett Harrison would've been at the top of this gallery if anyone ever cast him). |

This has been bugging me for a bit-Was Moseley cast in the show? I thought he was the guy who Josh said could, and I quote, "take your legislative agenda and shove it up your ass."
Again, great job Tim. 7 outgoing legislators, could we recycle the actors/actresses?

Arkin: "No compromise, no surrender" Today while being asked about his plans for the next session of congress, and the new influx of people into the democratic caucus, house GOP leader Jim Arkin had two things to say. "No compromise, no surrender." This set off a media flurry of about whether or not Arkin will be willing to work with Speaker Gelsey and the democrats in power. But Arkin wasn't having any of it, and he refused to speak to any more reporters. What could Arkin possibly mean, other than simply, "No compromise, no surrender." The house GOP #2 man, Brad Gilmore (CA-4), had a different take on his boss's quote. "I think you're all making far too big of a deal right now. What Jim meant, simply put, is that we've got out agenda, the senate GOP have their agenda, and President-elect Walken has his agenda. And we're going to get things done, with the democrats or without."

OOC:
Nice job on the wiki article Tim! His own daughter was his Lieutenant Governor?! I did have a nitpick though-wouldn't CJ be replaced by Toby and Will as Press Secretary? (I thought that the math for terms of office was wrong for a second as well, until I took a closer look. Sorry for doubting you). IC: newyorktimes.com, November 24th. Richardson Replies to Arkin, Gilmore: "Democrats Are Not Going To Just Roll Over and Play Dead." In an quick response to Minority Leader Jim Arkin's statement that there will be "No compromise, no surrender," in the next Congress, Majority Leader Mark Richardson had an immediate, scathing reply, in a statement released in from his office: "Mr. Arkin can say whatever he wants to about Republicans not compromising, but I know that there are members of the Republican Party out there who still want to do what is right for their country, who will want to work with the Democratic Party to make our great Congress work. They will want to do more than just throw themselves on the floor like a bunch of children in the grocery store, screaming to get whatever they want, holding up the work that needs to be done." Richardson also replied to Minority Whip Bradley Gilmore, who backing up his boss said, "we've got our agenda, the Senate GOP have their agenda, and President-elect Walken has his agenda. And we're going to get things done, with the Democrats or without." His statement further read: "Minority Whip Gilmore has the right to say that-But he is the Minority Whip. Democrats are the House majority right now, and we will not be ignored, shuffled to the side. Democrats are not just going to roll over and play dead, so that the Republicans can ram their agenda through unheeded by an opposite viewpoint. We want to be partners with the GOP, but we will not be pushed aside and ignored as Speaker Haffley and his cronies attempted to do with President Bartlet."

Will replaced Toby as Communications Director and de facto Press Secretary (like George Stephanopoulos in RL). Toby was her immediate successor (from September '05 to about August '06) while Maria Lopez was the next successor to be titled "White House Press Secretary" (Lou Thornton was also de facto while Communications Director, until the Purge). |

Something funny here:
When Kerrison resigns, Kershaw will be sworn in. If Kerrison resigns at the end of the Lame-duck session (considering the only thing switching is the Presidency, there isn't much of a change to be done) sometime in early December, Kershaw gets sworn in right after that. So despite Sam being elected, Avery won't leave office till January, while Kershaw takes office in December. Making her the senior senator!!! I guess she could just say that she won't be sworn in until January after Sam. Does this make Sam the first senator to become the Senior senator before being the junior senator?

Church: "We can't play a reckless game" Congressman Riley Church (R-CA-40), the next head of the National Republican Congressional Committee, following the exchange between minority leader Jim Arkin, minority whip Brad Gilmore, and majority leader Mark Richardson, came out with a statement. "Today just goes to show you that this what politics is. It's career politicians doing what they want, and not compromising. I think that this election has gone to show us that the American people want compromise. So that's what we have to give them. Whether Jim Arkin and Brad Gilmore like it or not, our mandate is not to dominate, it's to work together. We cannot continue to play this reckless game of politics with the future of this country." Church, a noted moderate, some even say liberal, Republican has been an avid critic of his party's leadership during his tenure in congress. And for the past year and a half, has been a royal pain in the ass of Jim Arkin. But going into the first year of a Walken Presidency, the President-elect told Arkin to play nice, because the party needs moderates. And so Arkin did, and has allowed Church to become Chair of the NRCC. He's made his first task to be that of recruiting more moderates and minority's into the party, which could plausibly put him in reach of a higher leadership position should he be successful.
