Isn't the "1600 map" just the 1560 map? Dangimill had stated he was working on a 1600 map, but then posted a 1500 and a 1560. Marko's post could have been an easy mistake to label it as 1600.

Fair enough. And you could just leave off at 1008. I'll take over with the 1009 secession/rebellion of Alpuente and Badajoz, showing the Taifa's as rebel states until the collapse of the Caliphate in 1031 at which point they become independent states in the Iberian Muslim cultural sphere.

1500 with corrected North & South America, and Africa.
- Corrected several borders that had been distorted by the removal of rivers. - Corrected colors on conventions regarding statelets within cultural spheres & generic states. - Added Tarascan State. - Added Mollo culture. - Added Muisca Confederation. - Added Huastec (as an Aztec princely state). - Added Tlaxcaltec (as an Aztec princely state). - Added Teotitlán (as an Aztec princely state). - Added Totonac (as an Aztec princely state). - Added Zapotec (as an Aztec princely state). - RE-added Mapuche (and shrunk the Inca; note the hard border between the two). - RE-added the Azores, Madeira, & Cape Verde to the Portuguese empire. - RE-added the Canaries to the Spanish empire. - Corrected West Africa. - Corrected Morocco. - Corrected Ajuuraan. - Added Adal Sultunate. - Added Makuria & Alodia. - Removed Luba, Loango, Anziku, Matamba, & Kasanje. - Removed Portuguese influence from Ndongo. - Added Mbwila & Ngoyo (as Kongolese princely states). ![]() |

Just a question (as everything look fine) why did you reverted the changes made to North America. Regarding the convention, we have now rebels against the wilderness.

However, it should be 240,240,240 which is a lighter grey than the rebel colour. Have you got the right shade WB? If so I might sort out darkening the rebel shade. |

I'm thinking of something. When we put the maps on the wiki, maybe we should add the date of publication in order to avoid retro-correction using older basemap?

Good idea. I think an earlier version of the wiki database had that but it got lost inbetween revisions to the system.

You know, I'm starting to think we need a Base Maps from 550 BC to Modern Day, all in UCS! II now, rather than waiting until the series has been completed since, well, it likely never will be totally complete.

I don't get your point. This thread is working for exchanges, sketches corrections.

The point is it's to long and half of it is comprised of out of date/incorrect maps.
Also, 8,000th post! |

Because ti's totally going to happen : nobody can make a perfectly good map. This thread is about corrections and propositions, we already have the "UCS thread" to announce maps on wiki. Quote:

Yeah, this time next year we'd have people complaining that the maps on the front page are out of date, and that we've got even more stickied threads.
Let's just improve the wiki, and I think it would work better also to have a single stickied thread with links to the wiki and all the basemap threads. These have definately become 'improve the basemap' threads rather than 'find the basemap' threads. |

The differen between an out of date map from say 6 months ago and a current one and the difference between the first set of maps (which do take-up literally half the thread) is like the differences between a small Asteroid and Jupiter.

To be fair, the half-way point would be at about 164 pages, and the shitty set ends at about the 60s. But a lot of new guys go into the early part, get a basemap from back then, and use them now, and it's quite frustrating.

In fact, in my opinion, THIS thread should be unsticked and only for OTL basemap makers in order to avoid confusion. Again, after 6 months we would have out of date maps, and we'll be back to the same point. Only the out of date would be less "old". But regarding the current state of map we have now, we have a great job to do to have accurate works.
