Kaiserreich mod for Darkest Hour

Darkest Hour is a game published by Paradox interactive. Its a grand strategy game where you can play as any country in the world during WW1 or WW2. Arguably its most famous mod is Kaiserreich, which originally came out for Hearts of Iron 2. Anyways, what is you guys opinion of the mod? Do you think its actually a realistic scenario? In my opinion, its quite unrealistic, although very fun.

nah it's heavily unrealistic but damn if it isn't utterly fun. One of my most favorite parts about it is how unlike vanilla DH or any other games it actually gives you something to do with any country no matter small or minor.

I agree. The reason I posted this though was because my friend is under the impression that its actually a realistic game. Despite my attempts to convince him otherwise, he still believes it is realistic. *Facepalm*

Anyways, you guys can feel free to mercilessly rip it apart, just keep in mind that realism isn't always the best for a game.

well it's realistic in the sense that while some of the details or events are just plain impossible they're presented in a more plausible manner then most ATL. realistically no US entry by 1917 would have meant total collapse of the entente since by that time all of them had sold off their gold reserves and any other hard assets to back their currencies up.

Now regardless of if France Or Russia goes first once France does so does the British since they had tied their banking system to the french one in a effort to prop them up.

now unfortunately my knowledge of economics is too limited to really provide anything beyond this but suffice to say US entry is utterly critical not for any military gains but more for the critical morale and financial assistance and security it provided.

What I find utterly unrealistic is how long the war lasts (I believe till 1921) and how many concessions Germany gets. Realistically, a war lasting that long would mean that pretty much all countries involved starve to death, and are utterly broken. Yet somehow, Germany comes out of this war extremely powerful, powerful enough to begin random interventions (China, Russia) across the world.

I'm his friend btw for those wondering. I don't think it's completely realistic. I feel how they present it is plausible enough.

About the only realistic things about it is Germany winning WW1, and even that happens too late, and the socialist revolution in France. Explain to me how Germany intends to hold on to its pacific colonies even though Japan and Australia would certainly have taken them all by 1921? And even if they somehow manage that, how do they take all the rest of the Pacific and then southern China as well? And how Germany somehow has the manpower and willpower to invade Russia and prop up a white government? And how after 7 years of stalemate, Germany still apparently gets massive concessions? And how Germany not only intends to hold onto its African colonies, but basically wipe the entente out of Africa, even though by 1917 pretty much all of Germany's african colonies had been taken over, minus one German holdout around Kenya? And how Germany intends to get all those African colonies, along with all the Pacific colonies? And why Britain just inexplicably gives up over half its empire, even though there's clearly no way Germany could ever launch a successful invasion of England in WW1? The entire thing makes no sense to me.

I would say that while it isn't realistic, it is a well constructed fictional world, that is stylistically self-consistent.

The UK has its revolution in 1925, which is when Germany snatches up some colonies. Doesn't make it realistic, but at least some attempt was made.

This.
