George II dies before Coronation, Frederick becomes King?

When George I died in 1727, George II became King of England/Britain. Obviously if OTL George II died before his coronation, he would just be remembered as George, Prince of Wales. Therefore the young Frederick becomes King upon both the death of his grandfather and pre-deceased father?

Politically, in OTL, Frederick seemed to be opposed to his father, and George II favored his younger son William. What exactly would young Frederick, coming to the throne at about 20 years old, be like as a King? And depending on butterflies, would we expect him to make the same treaties with Europe and even same decisions in regards to world affairs?

No he would be George II. Britain's succession is automatic "the King is dead, long live the King!" and all that. So he'd have a short (about 5 month) reign, then be succeeded by his son. As for his policies, its hard to tell. Chances are Warpole would remain in power for the time being, with changes coming after Frederick is fully established. One key change would be Frederick's Queen. He wanted to marry Wilhelmine of Prussia, but George II had axed it. Here chances are that Frederick would get his way, giving Britain its first Prussian Queen.

This could mean closer relations between Britain and Prussia in the 1730s, with the possibility of Britain supporting Prussia over Austria during the Austrian succession war. Of course this could also mean that France decides to switch alliances and turn to Austria much earlier. So the Austrian succession war could end up as an early version of the Seven years war, with Russia as a wild card.

Interesting - for this to happen, Bavaria would have to be a Prussian ally instead of a French one.

I wonder how all the changes would work on the continental fronts and if it changes any of the overseas results.

I forget if Netherlands was in OTL's Austrian Succession War and wonder if it would be in such a possible alternate war.

Of course for Frederick to kick off the European fight by seizing Silesia, Frederick would probably need to assume France would not participate as an ally to Austria, but have his assumption turn out to be wrong.

Each life touches another

Although in the real world, Frederick, Prince of Wales does die before he can succeed, it is ironic he ended up marrying his father's choice, (and father-son loathed each other), but from what has been seen, Frederick and his wife, Princess Augusta of Saxe-Gotha, had a happy marriage. rare among Royal couples of those days. Had the OTL occurred, this happy nuptial would not have happened and their would have been no George III as we know him.
