Communist Greece: Name?

AFAIK, "Democracy" and "Republic" is the same word in Greek, making "Democratic Republic of Greece" redundant.

In the beginning of the Greek Civil War, the Communists often operated under moderate republican trappings, so chances are that any communist Greece might initially be named "Ellīnikī́ Dīmokratía".

But what afterwards? How does "Socialist Republic of Greece" or "People's Republic of Greece" sound right? Or are there any other names?

In OTL Greek Communists formed this and some advocated for a 'People's Republic'. So you might get a People's Republic of Greece, or the People's Democratic Government of Greece'.

They could always be ironic and lift the term "Ελληνική Πολιτεία" ("Greek State") straight from the German occupation and make it their own. It could also be augmented as "Ελληνική Ελεύθερη Πολιτεία" ("Greek Free State") as a play on "Free Greece" (Ελεύθερη Ελλάδα), an unofficial name for the Resistance-controlled zone.

How about " Free Republic of Greece?" (Ελεύθερη Ελληνική Δημοκρατία) does it sounds right in the Greek Language?

The name would be in greek Laikii Dimokratia tou Ellada which literally mean people's democracy/republic but it is used in OTL for states which use Democratic Republic (i.e Congo, North Korea, the GDR etc.)

There seems to be no difference between People's/Democratic Republic terminology in greek.

When in doubt over the name of a communist country, People's Republic of [x] always seems to be a good choice.

In this case, People's Republic of Greece.

The only name of those mentioned that sounds right is "People's Republic of Greece" (Laiki Dimokratia tis Elladas).

There is still the word "Ῥωμαίων", meaniing "state" or "constitution" and used to describe the Roman Republic in ancient times. This, combined with the word "democracy" and "Greece" could form something like "Democratic Republic of Greece" or "Greek Democratic Republic."

Yeah People's Republic of Greece(Λαικη Δημοκρατια της Ελλαδος) it is the only one that makes sense in greek....

Dont forget that greek communist would surely name the country in our native tongue and not in a foreigh language......

It could be the functional equivalent of everyone just calling Laos "Laos" instead of the "Lao PDR", so while the official name's the "Hellenic People's Republic" it'd just be "Greece" in international news.
