The Red Baron lives!

Yes, it was the Aussies who got him, almost certainly.

However, if he wasn't killed in the process, then what?

Goering for all his faults as an air force commander, in the early days of the Nazi Party - he was the 'civil' face who could talk to the industrialists, who may have feared the 'Red Menace' but who weren't sure that the Nazis were any better. Goering gave them the reassurance the Nazis needed, and in return the 'industrialists' gave them the support they needed.

Could the Red Baron have done anything similar!?

Most likely as he was from an old Prussian family who has a lot of connections.
I found a site once about his fathers commercial interests but it seems to have dropped off he net now.:(

He was shot down by an RAF pilot and killed. But what if he was injured? He misses the rest of the war, but he had a simlar ideolgy to Hitler. He replaces Goering perhaps?

Even Goering didn't have the same ideology of Hitler at first. According to the
biography about him, The Reichsmarschall, Goering was named after
a Jewish doctor named Wilhelm Georg Ritter von Eppenstein. Chances are the
Red Baron wouldn't have the same ideology of Hitler at first. He'd probably come slowly around to it. BTW the Red Baron's cousin was a Luftwaffe fighter
ace in World War II.

Billy Bishop, a Canadian pilot serving with the RFC, later the RAF, is usually
credited with shooting down Baron Manfred von Richtoffen.
While I am a stubborn Canadian patriot Billy Bishop did not shoot him down, a Canadian pilot and a British pilot chased him while a machine gunner on the ground shot him down. And while the Red Baron did have a huge amount of kills Billy Bishop did end up beating him.

Captain Avery "Roy" Brown to be precise. but to keep things civil, lets just agree to disagree and give each half credit? agreable?

Also, IIRC Bishop had 72 aerial victories; The Baron 80 I believe
