WI: Pershing's expedition captures or kills Pancho Villa?

Some level of martyr. How important depends on the circumstances. He did have powerful enimies, who could have spun his death as a benefit to Mexico. 'See Villia brought on the Yanquis. We persuaded them to depart after he died.'

If he is killed by the invadeding Gringos he is more of a martyr.

Some level of martyr. How important depends on the circumstances. He did have powerful enimies, who could have spun his death as a benefit to Mexico. 'See Villia brought on the Yanquis. We persuaded them to depart after he died.'

Alternately, even his enemies could use his death (now that he's conveniently gone) as supporting THEIR version of anti-Yanqui messages.

A Charismatic figure, who's safely dead, can be of far more use than if he's alive sometimes.

Suppose it is Lieutenant George Smith Patton, Jr. who kills Pancho Villa in a dramatic shootout. Maybe this incident earns George a Medal of Honor?
