Ok if I place rulers on historical and then play from the 1701 period, does that mean that if France and Spain win, France could inherit Spain?

After the first attempt to do a AH.com game on the Paradox Metaserver, I decided to play a game as the Kongo. I never played anything that wasn't in Europe or Asia, so this was different for me.

I immediately buddied up to Portugal as soon as I could. Once Spain was formed I became close to them also. The "Triple Alliance" between all three lasted throughout the game.

This is the first game I tried to Westernize. It took a long time to get up to the Latin level and by then there were not allot of open space to colonize, but I did get some. Mostly in Africa, some in Indonesia (which I lost to Austria except for one territory), Australia, and NE Asia.

My continued Granada game, as of 1600. Developments include:
-There are now NO Orthodox states left. It's only a matter of time before all the Orthodox provinces are converted, and the religion left only in the history books.

-France imploded, thanks in part to my spies and in part to sheer luck. Foix, Navarra, Dauphine, Normandy, Champagne, and Revolutionary France (Now finally a Revolutionary Republic) have gained independence from the French Remnant.

-Mazovia now stretches from the Baltic to the Adriatic. Only three of its provinces are cores. It can't last.

-Rome follows the Sunni Islamic faith, and Athens is now culturally Italian.

-Islamic European states now include Granada, Byzantium, Bulgaria, Morea, Ukraine, Sicily, and Cornwall. I'm aiming for a Muslim Naples, Navarra, and Aragon by 1650. Hopefully I can get England down by 1700.

-Granada and Morocco are now Empires. They hate each other's guts.

-Beating the crap out of the Iberian Peninsula really hampered European colonization of the Americas. It's 1600, and the only other European states with any presence in the Americas are Munster and Brittany. Madness.

Aanywaaay... I got bored with portual again and started as France. Much more exciting! Since I cant remember all the details, long story short Burgundy, Brittany and Savoy all felt my wrath until Milan Ferrara and Burgundy led a revenge attack and got destroyed. I got some Italian territory but sold off Verona because is was too hard to defend. England attacked and eventually I managed to fight them back, taking Calais and Saintonage. I then cunningly placed many troops in Scotland (which I had vassalised earlier) and in Ireland and with some truly amazing manouvering I got revenge, defeating an army at least 15k larger than my own. I took Gascogne back. Then, I got a mission to annex Liguria and believing Genoa to be an OPM I attacked. Cue war with Lorraine, an invasion of Bavaria, and a trek all across Europe to attack Kaffa only to be stopped by a defiant Golden horde. My plan, complete with the annexation of Provence, would have given me a continous coast from the Pyrenees to Modena but twas not to be. Oh, and my first Diploannexation was Baden, which I vassalised in the first Burgundian war. All French states except Avignon are my vassals, and now I am aiming to OPM and Vassalise the Burgundy-Lorraine remnant. One thing that annoys me is that you cannot demand all you want even if you have 100% Warscore, for example demanding two provinces AND vassalisation would be 130%. Doesnt the AI know the meaning of 100%?

Oh, and thats the Empire of France. I excitedly declared an empire, thus dropping stability and starting a 5 year hell on earth revolts everywhere period just for that uber cool title.

Here is my small Sweden game, which I did start 1448. It is 1463 now, I crippled Norvgorod, I am an empire (since, I think, 1458) and a fully recognized Member state of the HRE. I am currently aiming to absorb the remains of Norvgorod, Denmark and Norway. Also I am allied with France and have Pskov as a vassal.

Interesting stuff: Scottish Iceland, still living Byzantine and the beginning of Portuguesean colonialism in Africa.

I would stay away from historical rulers period. Kind of broken.
And I would second "no". If the game is properly set up, the personal union is probably possible thought.

Indeed, it was never meant to be playable as vanilla, it was meant for modders to be able to do things.

My game as ming. Purple is nations I intend to conquare and orange is the color of my vassals. I hope to be able to enlarge my nation to the point I touch European nations by land, not by colonies.

Possibly luck. In my experience even when the game is played historically, strange nations do once in a while get lucky.... I'm more interested in how England got Andulusia.
