Like I said, I could write volumes on that war, but really don't want to without a new thread. If you want the detailed explanation, PM me. For a bit of further reasoning without clogging the thread too much, the UK went with a "France first" strategy in the war, and it backfired when it came to the American front in the end.

As for that Hannover remark, yes incorrect terminology. Not too familier with what exactly went on there, but somehow wanted to denote that Hannover had a history of being "special".

Salamon2, those maps are very good! Only the orange looks like it runs off the page a bit. That aside, you did a great job!

Quoting one map is bad enough. Did you really need to quote six?

Those are the borders agreed to by Faisal and Weizmann, according to Wiki; that's the reason the Zionists proposed them. The actual Faisal-Weizmann agreement said that the borders would be determined by a future commission, but they were generally given as essentially being bounded by the Galilee-ish region in the north, and the Hedjaz Railway in the east.

Do note, however, that Faisal (probably) never intended an independent Jewish state - just a Jewish province under his Kingdom of Syria. Faisal made a lot of comments about wanting to bring in Jews to his nation, where he hoped they would help him close the technology gap quickly, and then keep it closed.

Many thanks for that information!

Last question, do you know Faisal's aspired borders for his kingdom, even perhaps a map?

For the past five months I've been on an IT apprenticeship course, 9 to 5, 5 days a week. As a result, I was tired a lot and was unable to post on AH.com for long periods of time.

It's nice to know you missed me.

Of couirse they might be in for a shock if you now also behave all nice, friendly and gentlemanly in the Map Thread, instead of shouting at maps

Newfoundland to a first approximation consists of the city of St John's and to a second approximation the Avalon Peninsula (the yellow bit). The part owned by the Newfies in that map has less than 50% of the population and none of the resources, wealth, or strategic value.

As far as I know, Faisal just wanted to rule "Syria". This is a historical region, and as such has very fuzzy boundaries, but includes most of modern Syria, Lebanon, Israel, Palestinian Territories, and Jordan. Here's Wiki's map:

(the blue outlined region is what was supposed to go the Jews, the red was to be under French administration)

The Old Norse is probably wrong, especially my attempts at plurals.

I like the Sea of Fishes. Is there an actual TL to go with this?

So America and Russia lost to a European coalition in WWIII? I like it when America wins.

So IMO, I love the effect of the map -- great job, but just not of what the map is of.

That's a very good imitation of the style of maps you often see on mainstream websites, if you see what I mean.
