AH challenge: Weltpolitik works
Your challenge, should you choose to accept it, is to have a much more successful weltpolitik by 1925 with a POD no earlier than 1880. Here's the scoring system (based on Kaiser Bill's ideas, American fears in WWI, as well as some historical events):
5 points for German control of Wituland. 10 points for German control of all of Samoa. 15 points for German control of Taiwan. 20 points for German control of the Philippines. 25 points for a completed Baghdad Railway. 30 points for a German protectorate over Morocco. 35 points for German control of Zanzibar. 40 points for German control of the Danish Virgin Islands. 45 points for transferring the Portuguese colonial empire to Germany. 50 points for still independent Boer republics under German protection. 55 points for a German naval base on the Persian Gulf. 60 points for a pro-German government in Mexico. 65 points for a Nicaragua Canal financed by Germany and Japan. 70 points for a German naval base in Venezuela. 75 points for German control of Cuba. 80 points for the German colonial empire as it was in 1914 in OTL. For a total of 680 points. |

It is very possible with a POD after 1860, but I don't have time right now to write it out.
OTL, Bismarck had a cordial relationship with Wilhelm prior to his emperordom - both were conservative and Wilhelm really looked up to Bismarck. The chancellor did not really work from this position to correct some of Wilhelm's worse character traits, instead opting to work around him (hurting Wilhelm's feelings in the process). When Wilhelm was emperor, the admiration for Bismarck was largely gone, which he then realized with horror. There are also two things that are not generally known and will almost certainly be influenced: 1) Wilhelm II wanted to sign the reassurance treaty, but his advisors - who were confused by Bismarck's alliance system. Wilhelm heeded their advice, even with his bad feeling. 2) Wilhelm II did not want to visit the Sultan of Morocco and spark a conflict. Only after he was almost dragged along by a German diplomat (and several calls to the chancellor), he relucantly travelled there, sparking the first Morocco crisis. Possible POD: Bismarck works to influence young Wilhelm to have a bit more common sense - or Augenmaß, if you will - so he is a bit more grounded in reality. This might not make him a good emperor, but should avoid the worst of his OTL blunders.
