Anti-draka
Yeah this is somewhat ASB what with it involving Draka but meh
![]() So the common saying about the Draka is Stirling said he wanted to create a anti-US and make the most evil nation around- this however is using the assumption that the US is the nicest nation around and the very embodiment of good which is one hell of a long way from the truth. Its a nation like any other with good and bad points and just as strong a case (probally a stronger one) could be made for it being the most evil nation around. So...how about- A true anti-Draka. A nation of loyalists chased to South Africa after the Americans revolt who develop a highly succesful, very well regarded liberal democracy down there. In short- how do we expand the Cape Colony's concept of equal rights across the country and even build upon it so that it has good equality even by modern standards. Just a idea...

But anyway, the native Africans are tribal, and the tribes must be broken before democracy can work, so a period of enslavement may be called for. A period of militarism is also necessary for the nation to expand to any real extent. Maybe keep the Draka as they were until they have conquered most of Africa, and destroyed the African tribal networks with centuries of somewhat more benign slavery, then gradually reform. |

No way can the US be identified as most evil, at any point during history. It is, however, flawed.
But, wouldn't an anti-Draka be an African majoritarian state oppression the white minority and other groups (Khoisan and Pygmies, Arabs etc) |

I disagree that the Draka posit the US as totally good because the Draka are not totally evil. They're not really evil at all by their own standards.
They're even admirable in a very dark way if you can look past all the cruelty and oppressiveness. Anyone read Blade of the Immortal? Draka are like Shira, mean as pure cat dirt, delighting in sadism and torturing the weak and helpless, utterly without mercy, but also as willing to suffer pain as inflict it, and probably the most interesting character in the entire story. Anti-Draka would be...Americans..as flawed as we are. I think Stirling's already done several books on that. |

Anti implies against their philosphies as well as being able to oppose their nation. An Anti-Draka would probably be a loose confederation of tribal nations, be strong yet silent type, and be unfailingly diplomatic. Maybe an alternate Six Nations. |
