I like it a lot, but those lines to show the horse's legs make the body look... weird.

I agree, so kinda fixed:

And, following somebody else's suggestion, made smaller, although I don't think it looks as good:

Why not move the smaller horse into the yellow region so that it contrasts more with its background?

Or what if we were to just do this?

New Standard Series - US State Flag Proposals

Below is a summary of a few of the proposals I have designed to replace current US State Flags. You can find larger images and full descriptions on the appropriate US State Flag Thread. (http://www.alternatehistory.com/disc...=153779&page=9)

I'd love to hear any comments or critiques from my fellow vexillographers.

P.S. - Quick Shoutout to Transparent Blue for introducing me to the site and Inkscape, which has made all the difference.

I like it better with the larger horse.

I'm not crazy about the hill/corn in Massachusetts and Nebraska, but I like the rest of them. I especially like Montana, Delaware, and Virginia.

Alright. Now for the background: stick to what I have now or make it white?

I like the way it is now better than it with a white background. I understand where people are coming from when they say it's 'bad' for a flag to have 2 shades of blue, but I don't really mind it.

Frankly when I open it in Paint.NET and change the blues to all be the same, they all still look different anyway. Playing around with them, I think the field should be the same color as the water instead of the sky.

I also think it looks kind of nice with the field the green from the shield.

Alright, now would you think it would look better with the green from the shield (the background) or changing to the same shade of blue as the sea.

And I'm sorry if I'm coming off as annoying to you and the rest. This is just something that I want to get right.

I don't mind at all. I think it looks better with the blue from the sea.

Now for the top of the shield: orange or red?

Thanks man.

I didn't even notice you'd changed the color on the shield. Red, definitely.

My suggestion would be to leave it as you've posted it. If you must change anything, try making the sea a dark blue, but YMMV.

Couple of bits of housekeeping, though - there's a spot of black between the green arches at the tops, and a black line on the right side of the sky, about halfway up. Also, that Chakra wheel looks a bit vertically squashed.

I sat here for a long time trying to figure out what black line you were talking about until I realized it was on the left.

Bah. Just for that, I'm going to screw Texas in the next thing I do that has North America.
