which of the follwoing cities is best for the biggest port/harbor

I mean from a strategic position etc. which of those cities would be in the best position for this country.
Venetia

Triest
Livorno
Genua
Marseille

or is there any other place which you would suggest ?

this is what the country roughly looks like, the borders are bit inaccrucate since i suck at making maps.

Triest and Marseille, assuming you need a port in both the Western Med and the Adriatic.

If we're talking about which port is best for colonization, I don't see what's wrong with Genoa. After all, that city did historically have colonies in Europe, Asia, and Africa.

ok, i thought of adding the aquitaine region to my empire. Since some people say that atlantic access would be best.
However would there be any good place in Aquitaine for a big harbor ? most of Aquitaines coastline is probably too shallow. however i've never been there so i cant really say, looking around in google earth, i didnt saw any big harbor there, does anyone know more?

Well, didn't Spain dominate commerce in its American colonies through just Seville?

Anyways, regarding colonies, I guess it depends where the colonies are too. After all, if you're talking about colonies in Africa, I can see Marseille or Genoa being fine. If you're talking about the Americas, I can see why you'd need an Atlantic port.
