In mine? Not yet, though they will be. The Argentinans get the South Sandwich isles.

Does Commie US not get involved in the war in Europe?

Well, this is not bad for a first map. You've got a relatively well thought out scenario, and no anachronisms. But some backstory would be nice. Like, why is Germany not in one piece? And some back story on how the Communist Revolution in America came to be would be nice. My guess is "No US in WWI + No FDR + Great Depression", but that'd make much of the scenario different, since even if the Entente still won, the peace would be radically different without America playing any part.

It had a huge Civil War during the 1930's, so was unable to contribute as much to the European theater as it did IOTL. Plus, they're good buddies with Stalin (at this point) so the American troops wind up on the Eastern Front instead of the West. Britain and France are technically neutral, but back Hitler economically against the Soviets only realizing their mistake too late as the International Red Army approaches Berlin. They turn on Hitler, attempting to capture as much territory from his empire as possible before the Red Army gets there. The Axis, especially Italy, only put up minimal resistance against Britain/France, allowing Greece, half of Italy, some of Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands, most of Norway, and Turkey to avoid getting overrun (plus the Red Army is pretty overstretched at this point).
I'm still fleshing out some of the background, but I don't have enough knowledge to write an actual TL for this. The main idea is that the Iron Curtain is further west than OTL, and the capitalist world has suddenly become very economically isolated and suffers as a result. EDIT: Forgot to erase the red line in Cyprus and clean up some of the borders. Oh well. |

Considering it appears that the Soviets advanced far into Europe I think it's very likely a situation of the Soviets installing a Communist government in the portion they liberated but Greece having been liberated by the West before the Soviets could do so.

You're probably right. If I re-do this, I'll make sure to have Greece be red as well, or at least the mainland of it. Dunno if the reds would be able to get to Crete and some of the islands before the British/French.

I think if there was a Northern Communist Italy (The way I would put it is that Communist/Socialist Partisans took a lot more ground, and the Italian soldiers held out longer against the Allies). Anyways, I think the Allies would try to separate Sicily from Southern Italy, to basically ensure that if Southern Italy falls, there is some kind of Pro-Western government in former Italy.
Or, at least a Sicilian Independence movement would have a lot more legitimacy. I could easily see a Korean War style conflict between North Italy and South Italy too. |

Was there a Pacific war? With unlimited German sub warfare, the Brits and French unfriendly to the US, the Germans able to seal off the Baltic, plus the Japanese rampant in the west Pacific, just getting men and supplies to the Soviets will be difficult: the White Sea route and the trans-siberian railway are bottlenecks enough. [1] Bruce [1] IIRC, the US was able to get supplies to the Soviets through Vladivostok by third-party or Russian shipping, which the Japanese avoided attacking to prevent getting the Soviets mad at them while they had their hands full with the US. Not sure if that would work in this TL, and they certainly aren't going to let US troops through their waters if they are at war with the US. Last edited by B_Munro; August 18th, 2012 at 11:50 PM.. |

A New Netherland wank! The Dutch achieve success through persistence, an alliance with Canonasset (the Native leader in *King Philip's War), and some opportunistic meddling in French politics. Most of the colonies are only sparsely populated by Dutchmen, with all but South River, New Amsterdam, and New Friesland having Native majorities.
