So, with another war on the horizon, it's election time in Dixie.
Events during the presidency of Huey Long:
1933: Albert Einstein, fleeing Germany, is appointed professor of physics at the Georgia Institute of Technology. Long begins a program to reform the army and navy.
1935: Huey Long is assassinated in New Orleans. John N. Garner (D-TX) takes office.
Events during the presidency of John N. Garner:
1938: With the majority of their squad hailing from the state of Cuba, the CSA reaches the quarter finals of the World Cup in France, before losing 8-0 against Sweden.
1938: In Britain, LNER A4 Pacific No. 4468 Mallard sets a world speed record of 126 miles an hour.
