A lot of it may be quite off, but a lot of the geography is right, and thus it is a starting point. Now anybody can use that and slowly but surely edit it until it is perfect.

How many rivers sites Europe really have?

It just seems odd that we cite every little creek in Europe, while only a pair of the largest rivers in the world are shown in China, for example.

I put two rivers relativly important for drawn borders in this region.

Now, if you know better than me (and that wouldn't be hard at all) about rivers in China, please draw these if you think they are to be shown.

Yes, because this board is overwhelmingly Western, therefore we're going to have much more detail in the places the membership is from, since that's what most people will know.

More than that, it's just that we correct and add things were, while trying to make historical maps, we estimate that something was wrong or missed.

I'm pretty sure someone mapping regularly China, by exemple, would be more quick to see what's lacking and what's wrong.

In order to make something less european-focused, as it seems to put an issue, I added some rivers.

Senegal
Maghrb Rivers
Karun and Diyala (Iran)
Arax and Kura (Caucasus)
Jordan (Middle East)

I still added some in Europe
Tiber (Italy)
Savern (Great Britain)
Swedish rivers

Corrected
Po
Thames

Sicilian and Calabrian coast

Indeed, but quite a bit on the basemap changes over time - here's my achronological notes overlaid over the basemap (with LSCatilina's changes added in) - 'Patch' refers to a timeline that's been posted on this thread:

I'm fairly certain the Taiping Rebellion didn't take up that much territory regarding China, and I also think that Qing suzerainty over Korea is a bit too nominal for the entire peninsula to be colored in the Chinese color.

What I'm saying is that there are too many rivers being shown in Europe.

There might be too many rivers, period. How many tributaries of the Amazon do we need, anyways?

Personally, I think we only need the largest rivers. This way, we keep the Nile, the Amazon, the Volga, the Yangzi, etc, but we can omit the Hudson or the Thames.

We need rivers for border making. Not only for the ones based on rivers, but aslo because it's REALLY useful as orientation point with coast (especially for borders in inner lands).

Rivers are used almost only for that in UCS maps.

Their's nothing wrong with having lots of rivers, especially since we have a blank map dedicated to the Rivers exclusively.

I suppose it'd be a problem if you were to add all of them to a political mapd, but then, Rivers really have no place on them.

Indeed, the Taiping did control most of that territory (it goes North to far somehwat) at various times, just not all of it at the same time.

I did. I just wasn't confident (not as well established at the site as some of you) enough to do the changes. I can correct that in a flash.

It's already done, don't worr..

Hey! I'm established? Wohoo! All of you take THAT!

(No, seriously, you're showed being clearly far more knowledgable on the historical situation than the average, so I'm confident on your position)
