There seems to be little of Flag Challenges....

I challenge you all to make a flag for the German Dominion of Japan...
I'd like to make one, but my flag making skills are between a bag of garbage and the toilet right next to it.

my flag proposal of transylvania i made a while back, however i am not sure if the colours are that good:

Black stands for the turul and therefore for the hungarian minority in translyvania. Yellow for the siebenbürgen saxons, and green was a historical flag of transslvania and stands for the romanians.

while i like the colours, i thought it is too german, and rejected the idea, but i might take it though

It looks really good....maybe as a way for Transylvania to distinguish itself from the other Romanian states?

Good, but I feel that's very close the the African National Congress flag, and could easily be mistaken for it.

Hey Petike, is there any way to make straight lines on a flag conform to the texture's folds and creases?

Well, if no one is objecting to those colonial flags, I'm making them canon.

The shield on the Sandwich Islands flags is a little wonky, if that's an issue for you.

IMO the Colonial - I guess governmental? and Merchant flags for the colony would be very difficult to distinguish from one another at sea.

What? Rubbish. When are you ever going to get a situation when you confuse the flag of a Romanian province and the flag of a South African political party? And the ANC flag was adopted in 1925, so depending on the scenario it is quite possible that the Transylvanian flag was created first.
Honestly it's the sort of situation that would very rarely come up in-universe. And they're not even the same!

That is the ANC flag.

In my opinion it is less balanced.

Didn't one of the Saxon statelets have a flag with those colours, pre-unification? It strikes me that a European state or statelet isn't really going to care about flags outside their perception of 'civilisation'

The French merchant marine of the TL flies an additional naval trade flag while at sea. The standard merchant flag is meant to be used primarily on land. I just followed the OTL templates, where the only difference between the cantons of civil/colonial and merchant ensigns was that miniature coat of arms with the three fleur-de-lis.

Sure, but in your example there the OTL governmental flag is vastly different from and easily distinguished from the merchant flag - the former is white or white with golden fleur-de-lys, while the merchant is a white cross on a blue field. Your flags are basically identical except for a small shield added to the middle of the canton. Imagine that you're a ship's lookout on the high seas, peering through a telescope at a ship several hundred meters away - can you tell the two apart?

Yep, Saxe-Weimar-Eisenach used the exact same flag as the ANC. Just proves the point.

There's a request thread here, which might suit more.

Or not. While this thread is the "official" one where request always were made and still are.

Personally I prefer to use this one, but thanks for proposing.
