Not really. It's gone up and down.

Yeah it stayed in the 170's through the 1960's and 70's and is now down to the 140's.

Hey, for those of you who were dead set on electing Linda Jenness in 1972, take some solace in having Alson Jenness Streeter elected in 1888.

Streeter gets a solid win. I bet Butler signed whatever act or amendment that gave women the vote.

Or maybe the various states never took the right to vote away from women in the first place?

Not to discount your idea. I imagine the pod behind John Jay's vice presidency could be a few years before 1788.

This will be the first time in the pre-1900 series that a Democrat actually fared better than the other major party of OTL.

Yeah. I maintain that is because of Cleveland, and in 1896, Bryan will either win under that party, or have that party help him win under another.

Well, Cleveland didn't provide much opposition in 1884 here, and only did marginally better than the Republicans in 1888 because Harrison sucks and most of the progressive vote went to Streeter instead. The Democrats' relative success this election has more to do with a crappy Republican opponent. Bryan's nomination by the Dems in OTL 1896 was a rejection of the Bourbon Democrats as typified by Cleveland. If anything, it's the success of the Populists here that will give Bryan a boost over the pro-big business McKinley, not the success of the similarly pro-big business Cleveland.
