Vietnam: Strong and Free, and AHC Challenge.

This one is simple, just what it says o nthe tin. Figure out a way with possible PoD's starting in 1900 to make the Republic of Vietnam a free independent democratic nation governded by a native federal republic style Government, then have the U.S> come to the aid of this Government in the late fifties or Early sixties.

Way to hard, alas. You will need a POD much earlier to get rid of the French ,Who turned up there having got permission from the British [too near British colonies not to ask] in the 1860's I think by 1900 its waaay too late the French had their feet under the table. Their were appeals to the British ,which were ignored and some rebellions which failed due to a Gallic version of ''Whatever happens ,we have the gatling gun, and they have not''.

It would be helpful if you specified a time period for the point of departure.

WWII, French Colonialism, the US involvement in the Vietnam war, whatever.

That would narrow things down and give some parameters to work with.
