How to Make Page Numbers (with cover page) in LibreOffice By Morgan X Are you using LibreOffice to write your next work, that's lovely enough to need a cover page and page numbering, but can't figure out how to get rid of this on the cover page? Or, have you figured out how to get rid of it, but can't get the number on the second page (what you want to be "page one") to have a 1 in that page number field? Well, this guide is for you! I myself have struggled with this problem in OpenOffice.org. When I downloaded LibreOffice, I struggled for a while, but I soon found a very simple solution to the problem. I hope this guide helps! Step I Download LibreOffice from the above link. Install it and stuff, and then click on the icon to start it up. Your screen should look like this: ![]() Click on "Text Document." Step II Click on "Format," then click on "Title Page..." ![]() When the Title Page thing comes up, it should look like the following. Click on "OK." ![]() Step III Hit Enter a bunch of times until you get a second page. Go to Insert > Header > Default or Insert > Footer > Default. Click on the header or footer, so that the flashing bar thingie is in the header or footer, like so: ![]() Go to Insert > Fields > Other. Under the Documents tab, click on "Page" in the Type menu. Make sure you're on "page numbers" in the Select menu. Under the Format menu (you can select any format you want, it doesn't matter) there's a field that says "Offset." In there, type "-1." It should look like this: ![]() Click "Insert." The number "1," "I," or whatever should appear in the header or footer of the second page of your document. Once that works out, click away from the header or footer, into the body of your document, and hit backspace until all the enters are gone and your document is as pristine as when you made it. The header or footer will be there when you get to the second page. Now, you can get to work on your whatever-it-is, which will now be professionally page-numbered! I welcome anything that anyone would like to add. As well as comments and such. Happy writing! ![]() |
