Right, the United States doesn't have a Coat of Arms either, our Great Seal serves that function. Wikipedia shows the various French Republics having either seals or emblems instead of Coats of Arms.

But in almost every case those emblems were never officially adopted. They're used unofficially in this or that context. France tends to use logos.

To finish...
And I DID give credit to Hapsburg, too. Any part of a image someone posted that I use, I WILL give the author full credit, both for the image (or part thereof) and the idea.
Cuz I'm NICE LIKE THAT

Stemmi (coat of arms) for a divided italy
since all southern indipendetism movements use the same intricate CoA of the former kingdom of Two Sicilies I've decided to make a better CoA for a South Italian State: ![]() 1st quarter for the Kingdom on Naples (Anjou) 2nd and 3rd quarter for the Kingdom of Sicily (Aragòn and Hoenstaufen) 4th quarter for the Norman Duchy (Hautevilles) the crown is the one of the Bourbon's Two Sicilies similar CoA for a central italian state: left for Rome and right for Tuscany ![]() and two alternative CoA for a country in the north: ![]() 1st quarter for Piedmont 2nd quarter for Lombardy 3rd quarter for Genoa 4th quarter for Venice the crown is the Iron Crown of Lombardy used by the Lombards then by Charlemagne, the Holy Roman Emperors, Charles V, Napoleon and the Austrian Emperors for the title of King of the Lombards, then of Italy then of the Lombard-Venetia Kingdom ![]() another one has a proposal for a CoA of Padania that use the red on white Cross of the Lombard League and the Green of the napoleonic Italian Legion that inspired both the green of the OTL Italian flag and the green of the OTL padanian flag. The two supporters are a Griffin for the Repubblic of Genoa and the St. Marcus Lion for Venice.

Nice set of CoAs there, Feo. I especially like the last two. The first seems a bit off to me. First because of Anjou's arms. I dunno, they look goofy with the others. Then I noticed the crown makes it look a bit top heavy. But that is typical of Italian CoAs I suppose.
Anyway, here's something I put together for some kind of a supranational entity comprised of the US, Mexico, and an independent Texas. No other thought put into it at all. ![]()

its the grand empires royal crest flag incorporationg these: thise crests: http://i225.photobucket.com/albums/d...and29_svg3.png into this hearaldic shield (in each coressponding quadrant): http://www.vectorstock.com/assets/pr...rms-vector.jpg the top right shiled, but with the bottom lefts crown over a red , black, or green background its a steampunk empire so the leviathan kind of one would fit perfectly if each part was metalic :3 |

(This thread shouldn't be in the third page!)
The italian coat-of-arms are simply epic - the southern Italy one is very professional, and the supporters of the last one are the best I ever saw - where did you found them? (oh, to those who asked which program did I use, some pages ago, it's the good ol' Paint.net. It does not give the vectorial quality of other programs, but it is easy enough to use and has layers) --- from my almost finished Crusader Kings game, the coat-of-arms of the Kingdom of Arles, Africa and Aragon. It started as the Duchy of Provence (Bosonid line), and conquered the crown of Africa in the 1100. It only took the Arelat crown (Burgundy) from the Empire after the great civil war, in which the Empire was dismantled by the Pope himself, who took both the Imperial and the German crowns to himself as "Patriarch of Rome and Germany". The coat-of-arms shows the sejant rampant leopard or over an azure field, symbol of Arles (but without the CIV. ARELAT banner - it is used only as symbol of the kingdom of Arles itself, and latter it will symbolize the Arelat Republic, if I sucessfully convert it to EU3), the yellow and red bars of Aragon, and the Black Lion of Africa (non historical). The crown is the (ITTL) famous Double Crown of Provence, a union between the Ivory Crown of Africa and the Golden Crown of Arles. They were merged to show the legitimacy of Nicolau II de Provence as king of Arles, after he took it from the (falling apart) Empire. I, personally, don't like this whole Coat-of-Arms that much. The symbol of Arles I used is most probably just of the city, not of the Kingdom. I couldn't found, however, any symbol of the Kingdom of Arles nor of Provence without Aragonese or d'Anjou references, which were both buttlerflied away from the duchy of Provence. Do you have any suggestions for a native ruled Kingdom of Arles (Provence), or for a Kingdom of Africa stabilished by a provençal noble? |

One of the main reasons for the lack of a COA for the Arelat was that COAs only really became popular after the kingdom had been absorbed into what we now call the HRE. You're best bet would be the eagle since the lion feels more common the further north; plus it would seem more Roman . Maybe gold on blue would fit? |
