Well, form what I have read of him he was against annexation, he worked hard to be able to get Mexican recognition backed by Britain and France, and he put both to a referendum

I'll fix when I finally put out my whole timeline then. Any more suggestions? I tried to get Pro-Union Presidents around the 1880-1890 civil war.

Instead of Pease, Miguel Antonio Otero gets in to the presidency as the first Spainsh Colonist to recieve the post. (before the revolution)

Mariano S. Otero his nephew gains the presidentcy in 1907 and again in 1913. The first woman, Adina Emilia de Zavala, is elected in 1917, the daughter of the first Vice President, Lorenzo de Zavala.
