Lets see how long the system could last...
I heard that the emancipation proclamation during the acw had it written in the fine print that any confederate state that defects back to the union within 100 days would get to keep slaves.
So lets say that several states defect back or maybe even a majority. I dont know how maybe some major union victory happens, or some states just get cold feet. How would this effect after war reconstruction?
