Conn Igulden's Emperor novels

Anyone read these? It occured to me recently that these could argueable be alt-hist, as the events in the books unfold in a slighty different way then in OTL, for example, Sulla is murdered at the beginning of Death of Kings, where in OTL, he died of natural causes, also Caesar is related to Marius in Gates of Rome through his mother, not his father.

They're pretty decent- I suppose you could say that they are slightly AH but since the end result is the same maybe it might be more appropriate to call it Secret History like the Flashman books
