British Cyprus
So, what if Britain in 50s made a deal with the Greeks that they will cease with resistance and that Cyprus will become something short of dominion. That state would be a greek state, but a part of British Empire. On the other hand, threat would be that British would othervise return the island to Turkey, after all they had get it from Ottoman Empire in 1878.
Could that work? ![]() |

At this point was there any value left in keeping Cyprus while potentially ruining diplomatic relations with both Greece and Turkey?

Well, there is no theoretical possibility. The British aren't about to jeopardise foreign relations with some of the last democracies in the region just because they want to retain an overall-useless colony.
