WI soviet south west front retreated into Kiev in september 1941 and created all-round defence with help of Kiev armed area and huge inventory of fuel ammunition and food, situated here? This plan was offered to the soviet general stab by Mikhail Kirponos, but Shaposhnikov disaproved it

My uneducated guess:
The Kiev pocket hold out for at least a month given a new able commander of South West Front following the sack of Budjenny.
This gives the Soviets the needed time to build up defences of Moscow but also prepare better in the south - Donetz basin.
With Operation Typhoon being postponed for at least another 4 weeks or more due to wear on armoured and motorized units.

Perhaps we may even see an earlier Soviet winter offensive with much greater advances of the Red Army!

In RH they(soviet troops) were rounded up "in the field", here-in the city with supplies and fortifications
