Much as I like to watch a bunch of overindulged preppies beat each other with sticks, I am a Marylander and we have a particular grudge against Lacrossisitas. Not more than 2 years ago one of our own state legislators actually suggested we adopt it as our state sport, replacing Jousting for which we are justly world famous.
Naturally, he was voted out of office at the next election. I don't know if he even lives here anymore
The way to make anything a national sport is to get major advertising concerns to sponsor it. Once executives think you can sell beer with something they will build stadiums for it and get newspapers and tv commentators to write about it as if it was actually interesting. Look at car racing.
