monsoons

Lets have someone (Greek, Egyptian, Persian, it doesn't really matter) figure out how to use the monsoons to facilitate sea trade with India much much earlier than in OTL. What happens?

Should this be discovered before Alexander the Great comes around, he'll do much better in India. Other differences?

A big army could not sail in that way. They and their horses would need more food than the ships could carry in such a long voyage. OK for merchant ships, as cargo does not have to be fed.

I wasn't referring to shipping the actual army over. The army marches overland. The supply train, on the other hand...
