What if Lincoln weren't shot and lived?

Supposing Lincoln did take Major Eckert to Fords Theater and Eckert stops Booth by breaking his arm and recovering the notorious diary (which for argument's sake )does contain names of high level conspirators? What does Lincoln do next? Trial of the above? What about Reconstruction? I do not think Lincoln would live through this term because he had an illness-rare but fatal. I do think he'd get some plans to rebuild the South.

I'm partially of the opinion that Lincoln may have run into problems with the Radical Republicans. His idea of going easy on the South just wasn't going to sit with them, so its likely that he may have had the same amount of problems as Johnson had. While not likely to be impeached, he will probably find that winning the war was easier than winning the peace.
