One of the more "interesting" developments of my British North America TL is the Republic of Louisiana, which is essentially a Cajun Texas. Louisiana, like Quebec, despite the fact that only 25% of its population is of French descent, is officially Francophone--with a vengence. And like Texas OTL, Louisiana is an avid executioner, but with a difference. Unlike Texas and its sterile lethal injections, Louisiana does her judicial killings with panache, with speed, with a guillotine (which in TTL is named the Louison.) And these beheadings are celebrated widely; the grandstands inside the prisons' central square are usually packed for the spectacle, children, unfortunately, are excluded from the proceedings out of propriety.
