58% of Americans are Protestant. 26% are Catholic. The rest are
a combination of Jewish, Muslim, Atheist, and more. WI this was
different? What if didn't have a religion with more than 50% of the
population? Say Rastafarianism was stronger in Blacks? Or more of the
immigrants who came to America from places like Asia kept their native
religion? Deism never went out of fashion in the rich upper white
class. The Environmentalists in the NW are die hard Wiccans. Could it
happen?

Hmm, are we now posting dregs from other newsgroups?

Well, why don't we have some real statistics about the religious break down of the US before going any further. I don't see any particular reason, except extreme laziness, for lumping all the Protestant offshoots together. I think we're far more diverse than many liberals would tend to think.
