1938: What's Happened Here?

Here's a map. What's happened here?

It appears America is in a military dictatorship. I'm assuming Harrison isn't a real person; am I right? Germany doesn't have a government at all; I think that Hitler's rise to power has been met with resistance....better outcome for Germany in WWI?

Russia is torn between a Communist country and a democratic slice in place near Turkey. Let me guess...some Russians who opposed the Communists in the Civil War set up this enclave after a brutal and bloody war? The POD may be more Allied troops sent to support an anti-Communist Russian force than OTL.

I noticed Canada has a Communist state set up on its Atlantic coast. That is going to take some brainstorming!!

Yes, Harrison is a made up person. Nice idea about the Republic of Russia, and yes, a better outcome than OTL in this ATL for Germany. The United Soviet Republic of Labrador is there just as a challenge. And another thing, everything in dark purlpe is American territory.

Alaska was never sold to the USA by Russia. During the Russian Civil War it was seized by a strongman, but he exerts limited control.

The US instead went after Mexico again, taking Baja California; took Panama and the near-by mainland from Colombia; and attacked the Portuguese Empire in its fading days, taking African colonies. Finally the US received a trust in the Middle East at the end of WW I.

Speaking of which. Russia lost. Bigtime. Germany and Austria-Hungary occupied even more than OTL. They then turned to the West. France and Britain looked as if they were about to fall when US showed up and forced a peace on the Central Powers. By this time however, Russia was so deep into revolution that no one even considered giving them back their lost lands. Several "new" nations were created out of the ashes, Poland, Latvia, etc. Plus a new Russian republic in the SW that includes the Ukraine.

Just as in OTL Newfoundlanders contributed to the war effort out of all proportion to their population. The end of the war left them economically and psychologically broken. IOTL they eventually voted the country out of existence!! Renouncing their dominion status so that Britain would take over her debts, and then later joining Canada in 1949. That story is so bizarre that a socialist revolt at the end of the war seems no less likely. However this wouldn't be a "workers' and peasants' State". Newfoundland would have to be the "fisherman's and sealers' state" since these were the only major
occupations in the province at the time. It would be a remarkably different version of socialism from anything seen in OTL, I would imagine. No collective farms or five year plans, that's for sure.

Meanwhile Germany has followed (or preceded) Spain into Civil War between Fascists and Communists. All this has destabilized an already fragile France. Providing an opportunity for Socialist uprisings in West Africa.

Did I miss anything? Saudi Arabia looks different, but I can't tell how.
