Make Aramaic more widely spoken

What sort of POD/s would be required to develop Aramaic into a far widely spoken language, to the same extent at least as Hebrew or Arabic but not as universal as English, in today's world ? How much would the world be different if the language of Jesus was still spoken by many as a mother tongue ?

The use of Aramaic as a lingua franca spreads to the Arabian peninsular, the elite come to speak it as a mother tongue, the Koran is written in Aramaic...

ok have aramaic spread to the mecca-medina region and still survive there. That way instead of arabic Mohammed spreadsa version of aramaic that has some words from arabic in it(curseworlds, placenames and people names). Then in 2004 we have the islamic world and possibly southern spain/sicily speaking aramaic for religious purposes.

At the time of the Confusion of the Languages, Abraham was allotted by God the original language of all mankind, Hebrew. The Hamitic Canaanites also were given Hebrew. This was so so that when the Israelites took over the Land 500 years later, they found a fully cultivated country already populated with Hebrew speaking Canaanite servants. The Midrash says that Adam could speak Aramaic in the Garden of Eden. If the Roman Empire had become Judaised, which it almost did, instead of Christianised as in OTL, Aramaic would be taught at Eton instead of Latin.

Or the Turkish/Persian situation occurs. The Arabs conquests as in OTL but the original languages survive albeit with a large new vocabulary added from Arabic. So Aramaic and South Arabian survive in the middle east. Coptic, Berber and North African Romance are the languages of Muslim N. Africa.

When you mean the hamitic canaanites do you mean the colonial city states on north africa because the canaanites were semitic.

Canaan was the son of Ham and was a Hamite (Genesis 9:18). The Jebusites, Amorites, Girgashites etc were also all Hamites. When Canaan was cursed to be "a slave to his brothers" (v.24), in fact it was his biggest blessing. The Biblical rights of an Israelite Canaanite slave gave him a life style almost akin to his master's!

Huh?

Are you sure the Curse of Ham is divinely inspired? Does it ever say, "And God said it was so" about Noah's curse? I figured Noah was hungover and cranky, plus rather embarassed at his earlier stupidity (getting drunk and neglecting his clothes).

Here's my idea:
Umayyads made Jeddah its capital, while Damascus remained a provincial capital, governed by newly-converted Aramaic-speaking Muslims.

Oops.... This is so old
