Wyoming Democrats?

So for the past 14 years, Kevin Harris has represented the people of Wyoming with grace and a surprisingly liberal touch to things. He became sick earlier this year, and resigned. Quickly, both parties targeted the state as a zone to grab. The GOP has put Speaker of the Wyoming House of Representatives, Abel Sheen. A traditional, mainstream conservative, he won the GOP primary without any challenge. On the democratic side however, Mayor John Tomarchio of Cheyenne had to fend off an attack from the left in civil rights activist Candice Gigandet to win. Tomarchio is considered by some to be a DINO, Democrat in Name Only, for his positions. A former baking exec at Goldman Sachs, he returned home to get active in local politics. He is socially conservative on all issues except, surprisingly, gay marriage. Fiscally, as a banking executive, he's against wall street regulation, but he's in favor of universal health care, and education reform.

Latest polls have it as a dead heat, with Sheen leading ever so slightly, 47-43. But Tomarchio is very positive about the outlook, and with the promise of a Kevin Harris' endorsement, his campaign is very optimistic.
